MPM Conference 2017 in Winterthur (Switzerland)

Schweizer Tagung

The MPM Conference in Switzerland took place on November 10th 2017.

The venue of our conference was

MPM Conference 2015

On the 05th and 06th November 2015 in the heart of Berlin, in the former State Council building of the GDR our recent User Conference of the 7th Multi-Project Management Benchmarking Study took place.

In addition to the talk about the exciting study results, the event was enriched by stimulating contributions of speakers from practice (for example: Toll Collect, E.ON, DZ Bank, and German Telekom).

Furthermore the World Café invited the participants to discuss the questions of future developments and trends in Project Management. After the first conference day we had a wonderful dinner in the ‚Brasserie am Gendarmenmarkt‘. In a cozy atmosphere, the participants came together to reflect the results of the meeting and to network with other study participants.

MPM Conference 2013

On 14th and 15th November 2013 the user session of the 6th MPM benchmarking study took place in Berlin – in the European School of Management and Technology. The focus of this conference was the „Realization of Value and Competence Development in the Multi-Project Management“. Besides the presentation of the study results, the participants listened to exciting practitioners talks (e.g.: Lufthansa Group, Henkel, Bayer Materials Group etc.). 202 companies from Germany, Austria and Switzerland attended th 6th MPM Benchmarking Study. 



Conference 2013 – 10 years of Berlins‘ Benchmarking Studies

10Since 2002, the Department of Technology and Innovation Management at the Technical University Berlin explored in close cooperation with the practice, the critical success factors of the management of complex project landscapes. More than 1,000 project portfolios with over 100,000 projects were analyzed. Already, we wrote more than 20 contributions in peer-reviewed journals. Based on detailed surveys (2,500 respondents / 700,000 statements) we analyzed critical success factors and best practices of top performers in Multi-Project Mangement.

On 16th and 17th of May 2013, the anniversary event occured at the Maritim Hotel in Berlin. Here, the main results of previous research were presented and accompanied by interesting guest lectures from practitioners. However, the opportunities of networking were the focus of this event.


MPM Events 2011

On May 25th and 26th 2011, the get-together and the user conference took place in Berlin at Novotel. Numerous representatives from large and medium-sized companies, who see themselves confronted with the challenges of Multi-Project Management, accepted the invitation and discussed current issues in managing complex project landscapes. The focus of this meeting was on the  ‚Portfolio Dynamics and Opportunity & Risk Management in MPM‘. A proactive management of risks and rewards ensures long-term competitiveness of companies.


MPM Experts Workshop 2010

In October 2010, an expert workshop was held to talk about the challenges of Opportunity and Risk Management in Multi-Project environments. Participants discussed actively specific topics in small groups. This allowed the preparation of detailed solutions and appropriate recommendations for action. In plenary the results were summarized and discussed by the moderators Prof. Dr. Gemünden and Prof. Dr. Kock. The aim of this workshop was to promote a lively exchange, for the design of the project portfolio through the active use of opportunities and the management of risks.

MPM Conference 2009

On 26th November 2009, the latest research results of the 4th MPM benchmarking study were presented at the Novotel Tiergarten in Berlin. The presentation of the study results were enriched by exciting guest talks for example, E.On, Postbank Systems AG, BMW Group. Moreover critical success factors in the management of complex project landscapes were debated. An evidence for the continuous importance of Multi-Project Management is reflected on the number of participants, that increased by 30% compared to 2007.



MPM Conference 2007

We invited 130 experts from industrial companies to the 2nd Multi-Project Management user conference to the Ernst-Reuter House in Berlin. During the event on 29th November 2007 we presented and discussed success factors in MPM. The participants had the option to choose between parallel sessions from two different study fields (Research and Development vs. IT and  Organisation). So, they had the opportunity to talk about and get insider information from both resarch directions.

MPM Conference 2005

On 30th November 2005, the first MPM User Conference was held in Berlin at the Ernst-Reuter House. At this event, the results of the first multi-project management benchmarking study were presented. The survey conducted the period from 2004 to 2005, more than 200 companies of the German-speaking countries participate to generate quantitative information on strategic MPM topics. In an interactive atmosphere there was the possibility of a detailed analyzing of the results and to exchange information about different experiences. The moderation of the meeting assumed the gentlemen Prof. Gemünden and Dr. Dammer.
